I was facebook cruising the other day and found the best group ever. The name of the group is, and I quote, "Feeny...Feeny....Fee-hee-hee-heeny...".
Yup! You Guessed it! It's a Boy Meets World group. It is a whole group dedicated to the 90's best television show! This group is a global group and for the most part the people in it loved the show growing up and still love it. There are over 150,000 members!! Imagine! A wholesome, clean, morally active, and family valued television show was and still is has touched thousands of people. It's amazing to read people's comments and see how Boy Meets World affected their life. If you don't get anything else I write today then go read their comments and see for yourself.

Each person that has posted has their favorite moments that still makes them laugh. I admit that I love them all. It's a blast to go back and read every one's favorite memories. Most of them hilarious and either involving the ever lovable Eric Matthews, or the wise and all knowing George Feeney. Now there is a paradox of a character. An older educator that not only is a good teacher but actively cares and helps his students in and out of school. Hmm. Could we say a good guy? Huh. A man that was portrayed as a mentor seems to have mentored more than the onscreen characters. I know that many of the lessons I faced growing up I saw on Boy Meets World and watching Mr. Feeney guide Cory, Topanga, Shaun, and Eric felt like he was helping me as well. It was an uber bonus that he was one of my favorite actors as well. I enjoyed his witty sarcasm that slowly lead everyone to the solution that they needed and to see someone so invested on helping others was a real impact on my life. I'm also not the only one. Thousands of people wrote about how they were taught through the fictional teacher's actions. I am amazed. If a good television show can do this, what are the ones we are watching today teaching us?
But that's a topic for another day. I promise. (Really Michael, it will come faster than the last ones, I swear!!)
I Mainly watched the show because of Eric Matthews. All of my favorite moments involve him. From Mr. Plays With Squirrels to Chantelle (Eric's inner female). To stalking Topanga and the Horror show episode. Lessons were inadvertently learned in between the giggles. Take Mr. Plays With Squirrels, I will always remember...
Eric: "Its me manifesto" Corey: "There must be 4000 pages!" Jack: "They are all blank! Only the first one has words on it!" Shaun: "What does it say?" Jack: "Lose one friend, Lose all friends, lose yourself!" Corey: "Why are the rest of the pages blank?" Eric: "Nothing else seemed important."
To this day I remember it and have tried my hardest to do so. Thank the lord for myspace and facebook or it would have been much harder.
So I thank the 90's. Yes, I said I thank the 90's. Their wholesome television show made me laugh, cry, learn, love and grow. I will always stop and watch the reruns and yell the Feeney call when it comes. "Undapants!" will always make me giggle. You don't always have to make sense to be loved. The opposite of funny will always be wood. And true friends will love you, care for you, fight for you, and even occasionally hurt you, but will always stick by you and fight for your friendship. Because they are TRUE friends.
So I shall leave you with my most treasured moment that I will always cry to, probably even when I'm 80.
Mr. Feeney turns to an empty classroom. We see it's the very classroom where he taught in the beginning of the series. He walks up to the front desk that where Topanga, Corey and Shaun always sat. He taps the desk and looks up. With a small and sad voice we hear.
"I love you all.... Class dismissed."
We love you too, Mr. Feeney. Thank you for your guidance for over 20 years.
